Who this is

The app is published at data-drive.co.uk. Questions about this notice go to privacy@data-drive.co.uk.

What is stored on the phone

The registration, make and model you type in. The engine size. The PID list for the job. The plan you select. A road-test log, including the samples, and the VIN if the vehicle’s ECU gives one. The last volumetric-efficiency result and the last BHP result, so a report can still be printed after Bluetooth drops.

Those records stay in the browser on that Android phone or tablet. A road test is not uploaded as part of running the test.

Bluetooth

Chrome asks permission to use Bluetooth so the phone can talk to the OBD-II adapter you pick. The adapter is the Veepeak, or a similar BLE tool. Live readings pass between the phone and that adapter. They are not sent to Data-drive.

When data leaves the phone

Only when you choose it to. Exporting CSV or JSON downloads a file. Printing a report sends it to the printer or the print dialog. A copy you hand to a customer, or keep on the job, is then outside the app.

The app does not sell vehicle data, and it does not use it for advertising.

How long it is kept

Until you delete that log in the app, or you clear this site’s data in Chrome. Clearing the site removes the logs, the vehicle details and the saved reports on that phone. There is no separate copy on a server to delete.

Payment

Choosing a plan does not take a card payment yet. When it does, the card details are handled by the payment company. Data-drive does not store the card number. The prices are on the plans page.

The vehicle and the customer

A registration and a VIN can identify a vehicle, and sometimes a keeper. The workshop is responsible for the copy it prints and for how long that copy is kept on the job. Data-drive is the tool on the phone. It is not the workshop’s job-card system.
