Data-drive™
A road-test data logger for the workshop, to be used alongside a scan tool. It produces data-based figures you can use in the diagnostic process, and reports that help establish and prove an effective repair.
How to get the best from Data-drive
Run the volumetric efficiency pull when the car comes in. It records the efficiency as it stands, and it can help point at a fault. Run it again once the repair has been carried out. Both reports carry the registration, make and model. Print them for the customer, and keep a copy for the job. If the car comes back, a new trace has a reference.
It will not replace the scan tool, the job-card system, or HaynesPro. It is the sheet those do not print.
User guidePlansVolumetric efficiency
One wide-open pull. It compares the air the engine used with what that capacity should take at that rpm and manifold pressure. You see how full the cylinders got, and where in the rev range the fill falls away. A low number can point at a restriction, a leak after the airflow meter, cam timing, or a meter reading short. On a turbo the figure is against boost, so boost on its own does not make it look healthy. The colour is a guide. The comparison that matters is the same pull after the repair.
The log
Record the road test. Export CSV or JSON with the registration on the file, and open two runs side by side — before and after, or against another vehicle.
Live data
The channels for this job, and up to four PIDs on one graph. Each trace keeps its own scale.
BHP
One pull, then a graph of brake horsepower against rpm. Calculated from the data the vehicle provides. An estimate, not a hub dyno. Print it.
Relative compression
A cranking comparison. A low slot is worth a gauge. An even result is encouraging, not proof.
Codes and freeze frame
Generic fault codes, and the conditions stored when the fault set. Mode 06 sits with the other checks.
PID lists
A short list for the job, instead of a catalogue. Standard channels, plus your own.
Android only. Use a workshop Android phone or tablet, in Chrome. An iPhone or iPad cannot open the adapter.
It also needs a decent Bluetooth LE OBD-II tool. A Veepeak BLE+ or a similar ELM327 BLE adapter is what it was built around. A very cheap clone often connects, then smears the pull.
Generic OBD-II only. No coding, no adaptations, no security access. Privacy
